Major League Isekai (MLI) fans have awoken to distressing news this morning as league launched an investigation against Remuru Tempest for scripting and various other breaches of the league’s rule set. The allegations claim that Tempest had not only been using outside scripts to disable the character cap on Magicite, but had also implemented banned macros in order to combine and wield spells from multiple classes at once.
League founder and author of .hack//Sign, Mashimo Kouichi has released a statement to the press and fans of the league, referring to the event as a “dark day in league history.”
Although the investigation has only just begun, many fans themselves have taken to social media to share their shock and disgust at the allegations. Many have likened the charges against Tempest to the 2014 expulsion of Kirito the black swordsman after it was revealed he had manipulated development code across multiple games, resulting in a lifetime ban.
As a result of the investigation, current standings have league veteran Ainz Ooal Gown from Overlord moving into first place. Though Gown is also not void of controversy, Gown himself has reiterated that he has been screened repeatedly. He attributes his abilities to “a combination of disproportionate grinding and total disregard for my physical well being, in complete alignment with the core values of Major League Isekai.”
